Shirataki Noodles Taste

Curious about how shirataki noodles taste? You aren't alone. We get asked this question quite often. Many people expect them to taste exactly like pasta. However, this is not the case. Shirataki noodles are many from tofu and therefore have less flavor. The fact that they are made from tofu is an advantage though, since tofu is a food that takes on the flavor of whatever it is combined with. So, if you prepare shirataki noodles similarly to pasta, you shouldn't notice too much of a difference. Just don't expect them to taste just like traditional semolina or flour based pasta. Some people expect this and they are sorely disappointed by tofu shirataki noodles.

When preparing these noodles, do pay attention to the cooking directions carefully, as the cooking time will be different from regular pastas. Also, you may want to try the noodles in a variety of different preparations to find one that you like. The noodles can be substituted in virtually every recipe that calls for noodles or pasta of any kind. That means noodle soups, pasta salads, entrees, Asian dishes and stirfrys, cold preparations, hot preparations and just about any Italian recipe that calls for pasta.
